More than $1.75 Million Awarded for Municipal Upgrades in Mercer, Butler Counties, Says Bonner

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) today announced more than $1.75 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support upgrades to municipal vehicles and equipment across parts of Mercer and Butler counties.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and public interest projects.

“I’m glad to see this significant funding coming to municipalities across the 17th Legislative District,” Bonner said. “These grants give local governments the infrastructure and equipment they need to continue providing essential services for their residents.”

Bonner worked with Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler/Clarion/Erie/Forest/Venango/Warren) and Sen. Michelle Brooks (R-Crawford/Mercer/Lawrence) to secure the funding.

The approved projects in Bulter County include:
• Concord Township - $401,288 to make a major addition to its equipment garage.
• Eau Clair Borough - $66,914 to outfit a tractor that will be used for mowing and snow plowing in the borough.
• Harrisville Borough - $78,912 to purchase a pickup truck that will be used for winter maintenance.
• Mercer Township – $211,914 to purchase a new tractor and boom mower attachment.
• Parker Township - $156,000 to purchase a backhoe.
• Slippery Rock Municipal Authority - $116,338 to purchase a new excavator.

The approved projects in Mercer County include:
• Fairview Township - $33,900 to purchase a new trailer to be used around the township.
• Mercer Borough - $30,000 to purchase an emergency weather siren.
• Perry Township - $100,000 to purchase a boom mower and a backhoe.
• Springfield Township - $360,644 to upgrade its backhoe, a diesel truck and a mower.
• Wilmington Township - $200,000 to purchase a wheeled excavator.
