Nearly $1.2 Million Coming to Several Mercer, Butler Schools for School Safety, Behavioral Health Improvements, Says Bonner

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) announced several schools in Mercer and Butler counties will be receiving more than a combined $1.2 million to make learning environments safer and provide behavioral health support for students and staff.

The grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee.

“Safe schools are vital to protecting students and staff,” Bonner said. “This funding helps to continue to make that possible.”

The total amount awarded to each school or school district is as follows:
• Karns City Area School District - $154,575.
• Moniteau School District - $147,091.
• Slippery Rock Area School District - $179,864.
• Commodore Perry School District - $117,664.
• Grove City Area School District - $175,469.
• Lakeview School District - $135,148.
• Mercer Area School District - $141,844.
• Mercer County Career Center - $70,000.
• Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 - $70,000.

The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
