Bonner: $1 Million Awarded to Mercer County for Revitalization Project
July 16, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) today announced that Mercer County is the recipient of a $1 million grant for an improvement project to help transform the old Citizens Bank Building on the Courthouse Square in Mercer Borough. The building is now owned by the County and the project will convert the property into governmental offices with leasable business space. Funds will specifically be used for installing an elevator, creating ADA-compliant restrooms, reconfiguring office space, replacing the roof, and making drainage improvements. This funding is provided through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which aims to bolster economic growth and enhance community resources.
“I am pleased to announce this grant for this project,” Bonner said. “It will allow Mercer County to bring new life to this building located on the Courthouse Square and will create space that supports both local government operations and economic development.”
RACP is a Commonwealth grant initiative overseen by the Office of the Budget, designed to support projects that contribute to regional economic, cultural, civic and recreational development.
