February 25, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) today announced funding has been secured for the Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department in Mercer County.

The department was awarded $13,775 by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

The funding allows for the purchase of critical wildfire suppression equipment, protective gear, communications tools and training.

“I am grateful for this investment in the Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department,” Bonner said. “It will undoubtedly keep residents of Mercer County safer and better protected by strengthening the department’s ability to respond to emergencies.”

The department was given funding through a cost-share grant program that provides up to $15,000 to rural fire companies serving municipalities with less than 10,000 residents.

“Small boroughs like Fredonia depend on their volunteer fire departments in times of emergency,” Bonner said. “This support will continue to ensure they have the tools needed to respond.”
