The Horrors of 9/11

September 11, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) issued the following statement regarding the terrorist attacks that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.

"Today we are reminded about one of the worst days in American history, a day when foreign terrorists launched a series of coordinated attacks on our way of lives, our freedom and our values.

Like so many across the country, 24 years ago I watched in horror as we as a nation saw the images of the twin towers collapsing, the damage done to the Pentagon and a plan wrecked in a field in Shanksville, Somerset County.

We will never and should never forget what happened on that day.

We honor the nearly 3.000 people killed, along with the thousands of others who were injured at the hands of evil men. These were mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children.

In their grief and grace, the survivors and families have reminded us that together there is nothing we cannot overcome. The terrorist attacks reminded us of the brotherhood and sisterhood we share as Americans. Even if only for a moment, September 11 brought the
people of this diverse country together as one. We grieved together; we shared in tears, anger, confusion and disbelief; and we continue to heal together even to this day.

Today is also a call to remain vigilant. Everyday there are threats to our safety, liberties and values. We must stand firm against them.

The best way to honor the lives lost on September 11 is to remain committed to protecting freedom, defending our nation and standing united as Americans and children of God. May God bless America!"
