7/23/2021
MERCY COUNTY – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) has announced that two Mercer County communities will receive a total of $1,675,000 in grants and loans from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST). Bonner stated that PennVEST is a state agency dedicated to improving Pennsylvania’s environment and the health of its people by providing low interest loans and grants for sewer, storm water and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth. PennVEST also helps to clean rivers and streams in our communities for the enjoyment of our citizens and the protection of our environment.

Perry Township will receive a loan of $37,997 and a grant of $1,168,103 for a total award of $1,206,100. This money will be used for the installation of 4,800 feet of low-pressure sewer mains by the directional drill method, 17 grinder pump units, one duplex grinder pump station, service lateral kits and a community onlot disposal system. Gary King, chairman of the board of supervisors for Perry Township, expressed his thanks and gratitude to PennVEST and Rep. Bonner for the loan and the grant as it will greatly assist in the disposal and treatment of sewage in Perry Township.

The Borough of Jackson Center will also receive a loan of $468,900 to address the design of the replacement wastewater treatment plant.

Bonner said, “We are pleased and thankful that PennVEST has recognized the efforts and hard work of the elected officials of Perry Township and Jackson Center to address critical environmental and cost concerns regarding the disposal and treatment of sewage in these communities. I look forward to working with these communities and other municipalities in Mercer and Butler counties as we seek to serve our mutual constituents.”
