HARRISBURG – Today, Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) released a statement announcing nearly $245,000 in funding for fire and emergency medical services (EMS) across the 17th House District.
The grants were announced by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). The ongoing funding program was created by the General Assembly.
“Every day I am grateful to our first responders who devote their lives to serve our communities,” Bonner said. “Thank you to all of the 17th House District’s first responders for your selflessness and sacrifices to serve and protect our Commonwealth.”
The following list includes all the grant recipients in the 17th District and the funding amounts:
Butler County:
• Eau Claire Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association - $13,061.55.
• Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company - $14,034.16.
• Karns City Regional Ambulance Service - $15,000.
• Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company - $14,228.68.
• Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department – 413,839.63.
• Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team - $14,617.72.
• Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team EMS - $9,988.
Mercer County
• East End Volunteer Department No. 1 - $16,173.90.
• Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department - $14,034.16.
• Grove City Volunteer Fire Department - $15,784.85.
• Jackson Center Fire Department - $15,006.77.
• Jefferson Township Fire Department - $15,006.77.
• Pine Township Engine Company - $16,591.99.
• Sheakleyville Community Volunteer Fire Department - $13,450.59.
• Stoneboro Volunteer Fire Company - $14,034.16.
• Superior Ambulance Service Inc. -$15,000.
• Volunteer Fire Department of Springfield Township - $15,006.77.
The OSFC manages financial assistance programs for the state’s fire, ambulance and rescue organizations intended to improve and enhance their abilities to provide firefighting, ambulance and rescue services.
To receive their grants and retain eligibility for the program, fire and ambulance companies’ paperwork must be submitted to the OSFC by July 1.
