Bonner: Mercer County Secures Over $1.5 Million for New Mercer County Agricultural and Conservation Community Learning Center
GROVE CITY – Today, Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) announced a state grant of over $1.5 million in funding for a Mercer County Agricultural and Conservation Community Learning Center Project in Coolspring Township in Mercer County. The proposed facility is conveniently located near the Mercer County Career Center.
This funding will provide a community center with educational opportunities in modern agriculture, environmental conservation and other related fields. The new community center will provide a well-equipped space for inclusive educational opportunities, including those with disabilities. Additionally, the proposed facility will provide broadband internet access for county residents, which can be used for job searches, telehealth and other important endeavors.
“The efforts of Mercer County’s commissioners, including Chairwoman Ann Colemen and commissioners Bill Finley and Tim McGonigle, as well as Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50), greatly assisted in delivering this funding for Mercer County,” said Bonner. “It is my objective to constantly be supportive of projects which promote the education, health and well-being of our residents, and this project will exceed that goal.”
The grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority through the Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program and are funded under the America Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The facilities program offers $45 million in competitive grants to community anchor institutions and units of local government for community projects.
